Update...doc appt, A1c, and yeah, the stupid 1 hr glucose...

So..I went to see the doc on Monday for my 27wk checkup.  I tell them that the surgeon says that the 1 hour glucose test is not accurate for us and can create false negative and false positive results.  I tell them that the surgeon would prefer the A1C or doing finger sticks the next few weeks and that this will be more accurate for me.  WElllll....they wont listen.  They bring me the glucola, and tell me that they will do both the 1 hr and the A1C.  Yes...here is where I tell them to back the hell right?  NO...my day has already been overly stressful...so I just deal.  I DUMP badly on the crap.  So badly that I have to lay down into the fetal position to deal.  And I know that crap hit my blood hard because not 2 mins after I drank it...Bella went nuts.  So other than that...and them drawing my blood...the doc calling me fat(even though I am sticking to what the NUT gave me, I am still gaining...I have a second op with another NUT next week to see if I can lower the carbs) and all...everything is fine.

The nurse who I can't stand calls today(I am thinking she has an issue either with me, or with the fact that we are an interracial couple..I dunno but she is a *****) "you barely passed your 1 hr glucose test".  I told her...I told you what the surgeon said...that it wouldnt be accurate as we dont have a pyloric valve..."I know that"...then bother even tell me those results.  "But the results of everything are fine"....ummm okay.

I swear...if Chris(the hubs) would allow it...I would so change docs now.  He just doesnt want the upheaval...but I swear they treat me like I am the worst patient they have ever had, though I barely call anymore at all...even when i think I should.

What a tool!

Ugh...what a biotch.  At least you passed everything.  Did they tell you what the actual numbers were for the glucose and the A1c?

Nope...she didnt even give me #s.  The biotch at the office(this is the woman I get every time I call with a concern....) was like, "I Just wanted you to know..."...but I passed.  I want the #s...so when I go in on Feb 17...I am asking for a copy.  This heifer makes me sooo damn mad.  its no wonder...thats like taking a freakin' needle and shooting up my bloodstream with sugar...OMG I was sick.  And I normally don't dump(and had this before and wasnt sick but I had food in my system).  Just a warning that those that don't dump...DONT DO IT.   YOu also never put that much sugar in your system in less than 5 mins either.

Yeah...I hate the office and the docs.  I know that they think that they know what they are doing...but I seriously dont think that they do. They dont even listen to the surgeon's office, and refused the phone # when I tried to get them to call(surgeon told me to have them call him).  Makes me sick!

So glad that you passed but so sorry you had to go through that! I would have purposefully threw up all over them!

I know your hubby loves you but I would poke him in the eye and switch Dr's! You know he is going to end up punching someone in the delivery room if they are like that with him! (YEs, my Hubby is a Chris too and the EXACT same way! lol)

Good luck hun!

I swear...if I was able to vomit, I would have.  The stuff is nasty the first time down...second and third time up....very disgusting!!!!

I SOO KNOW HOW YOU FEEL. I SWITCHED DR'S IN MY 32 WEEK....AND I AM SOOOO HAPPY I DID...THE DR I AM SEEING NOW WAS WHO DELIVERED MY LAST CHILD AND I ASSUMED THAT BEING I WAS SO SICK WITH MY LAST PREGNANCY, HE WOULD JUST REFER ME TO THE SPECIALIST...SO I TOOK IT UPON MY SLEF JUST GO TO  TO THE SPECIALIST...NOT A GOOD DECISION
I JUST FELT SO UNHAPPY WITH MY CARE.. (NOT THAT HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH THE BABY BUT AS A RYN PATIENT I WAS NOT " NORMAL" AND FELT THAT WAS NOT BEING ADDRESSED....)
SWITCHING WAS  A WEIGHT LIFTED OFF OF ME AT SUCH A SPECIAL TIME...WAS PRETTY EASY ..I DONT KNOW ABOUT OTHER STATES BUT HERE...I JUST CALLED THE "NEW DR"  AND SAID I WANTED TO SWITCH, MADE THE APPT AND SIGNED PAPERS SAYING THEY COULD REQUEST MY RECORDS AND IT WAS AS SIMIPLE AS THAT... I HAD ISSUES WITH THE GLUCOSE TESTING TOO EXPLAINED IT TO "NEW DR" AND HE SAID OK JUST TEST A WEEK FOR ME AND THAT IS GOOD ENOUGH..IF IT'S HIGH WE WILL DO THE A1C,
NO MATTER WHAT OUR DR'S SHOULD LISTEN TO US AND OUR NEEDS. IT IS ALL ABOUT US AND THE WELL BEING OF OUR UNBORN BABIES......I JUST WISH YOU THE BEST, AND HOPE U FIND SOME SOLUTION...

That sucks! I'd be so pissed off at that nurse too, you don't deserve to be treated like that. She needs to learn some freakin' manners!

That sounds terrible! I am just a little confused at why changing doctors would be a hassle for your hubby.  Isn't it more of a hassle for you? You are going to be too stressed out giving birth with a doctor you don't trust. I say DO IT. Change docs. I can't believe they insisted on you doing the test.

Well...I am glad that you passed, but you shouldn't have to put up with that crap.  Not sure why Chris is stuck on this office, but I think that you should be able to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy without all of this drama by switching OBs. You don't need this extra and unnecessary stress.

Take care....
